Frances Davis is known as a very special woman. Not only is she a faithful member of the Sand Hill, Ky., Church, she is also the church pianist, all made remarkable by her age. She celebrated her 100th birthday on April 29, 2018. On that day nearly 200 friends, neighbors, and former students from the community and church gathered at the Anna Community Hall to celebrate the happy occasion. They enjoyed a photo album of family pictures from her long life, and refreshments were served. Long-time friends shared many memories.
Members of the church and friends worked long hours to make the day memorable for everyone. Several pastors and their wives came to honor Davis for her faithful years of service to God and His Church. Steve Haley, president of the Kentucky-Tennessee Conference, greeted those in attendance.
Special guest Diane Fish represented Holbrook Indian School, Holbrook, Ariz., an institution visited and financially supported by Davis and her late husband, Buford Davis. Fish presented a beautiful piece of Indian pottery to Davis as an expression of the school’s gratitude for the Davis’ generosity and support.
During the Sand Hill Sabbath services on the following Sabbath, May 5, Davis said that she had one word to describe her birthday: “perfect.”
