More than three days of worship, fellowship, and spiritual renewal marked the South Atlantic Conference Franco-Haitian Camp Meeting at River Oaks Campground in Orangeburg, S.C., where members gathered under the theme, “Faithful Then, Now, and Always.”
Members from Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina traveled to Orangeburg to celebrate God’s enduring faithfulness through worship, preaching, and fellowship.
The annual gathering was coordinated by the Franco-Haitian Ministries advisory team, led by Hyrouance and Advenia Adras, in partnership with the Conference’s Haitian pastors. Programming included activities for all ages.
Children participated in Vacation Bible School, coordinated by Magdala Fleurinor with support from Darryl Howard, D.Min., South Atlantic Conference children’s ministries director. Youth gathered at the Conference’s youth pavilion with Ammishaday Grand Jean, Franco-Haitian youth federation president, and Aaron Abernathy and Myles Young, Conference youth directors.
One of the weekend’s signature events was the Saturday evening “Oldies” banquet, where attendees celebrated the music, fashion, and atmosphere of the 1970s and 1980s.
Campers also enjoyed traditional Haitian cuisine prepared throughout the weekend by Mari Georges. The keynote speaker, Pierre Elie Omeler, D.Min., vice president of the General Conference, delivered messages focused on God’s faithfulness and hope. His sermons encouraged worshippers while addressing the challenges many immigrant families face today. Gregory Nelson, pastor of the New Life Church in Brooklyn, N.Y., also served as a featured speaker during Camp Meeting.
Music, testimonies, and seasons of prayer complemented the preaching throughout the weekend. Highlights of the gathering included a visitor who became a member, and the ordination of six local church elders during a special ceremony.
Franco-Haitian Ministries leaders expressed appreciation to Calvin B. Preston, Conference president, and David A. Smith, executive vice president, for their continued support and annual participation in the Franco-Haitian Camp Meeting, and the ongoing commitment to Franco-Haitian Ministries.
Organizers concluded the weekend by expressing gratitude for God’s blessings and anticipation for the 2027 Franco-Haitian Camp Meeting.
