An Experience to Remember

This was my first time at Oshkosh, there are no words to explain how much fun I had. I’m just ecstatic; it was just perfect. But, it did come with responsibilities because it is an international camp, and it’s pretty easy to get lost. I was especially excited to perform in the drilling and marching competitions. I was very nervous because it felt like one million people were watching me.

We were in formation, and then two seconds later, over the loud speaker, you could hear, “Emmanuel wildcats!” We ran onto the stage with lots of energy, and a look of sharpness on our faces. I was very scared because I thought I was going to mess up, but I just trusted in God and did my best. Before I knew it the competition was over and we jogged to the exit. As we waited for our names to be called, we heard third place, and then second, and we felt discouraged for a moment. But then, over the loud speaker: “Emmanuel Wildcats, first place.” I felt a rush of joy run through my body. At first I was discouraged, but God helped us. Five years from now, we are planning to take home three first-place trophies for Fancy, Basic, and Freestyle.
