Evangelism Reaps Miraculous Deliverance

BY KIETH NOLL

Pictured are those who joined the Paris Church after the meetings: Mary Winburn (left); Doug Goodrum; Heather Goodrum; Chuck Kohley, pastor; Austin Tyler; James Walker; Kieth Noll, evangelist; and Trina Wagers (seated).

It is always a blessing to see how God changes lives, saves marriages, and delivers His children from the bondage of sin. The following story testifies to a powerful, wonder-working God.

Two and half years ago, Doug and Heather Goodrum started Bible studies with Peter Lewis from Camden, Tenn. At the end of the studies, Lewis invited the Goodrums to be baptized. Though they declined, things went well for them as their faith grew.

In January 2015, Doug Goodrum suffered a paralyzing stroke. He was not aware of anything for the next three days. When he woke up, he began getting better and stronger by the day. But, he was left with a lot of pain, so much pain that he became dependent on pain medication. With the medication came mood swings, which had a horrible effect on his family; and, he stopped reading the Bible. During this difficulty, torrential rains flooded his family’s home, and they became homeless. Unable to find anything to buy or rent, they moved in with Goodrum’s mother.

While living in his mother home, Goodrum, still dependent on pain medication and now using other drugs, began praying and reading the Bible every morning. Things started improving, and in August 2016, Goodrum and his wife were able to purchase the home where they now live.

Five weeks before the meetings at the Paris Church, Goodrum began praying for deliverance from his addictions, and he and his wife decided to attend the meetings. He is now free from addictions, and he and his family are starting a new life in Jesus Christ. He was baptized on Sabbath, October 22, 2016, and his wife joined by profession of faith the following Sabbath. Praise God for what He has done.
