Mt. Pisgah Welcomes New Pastor

BY Daniela Jean

Alex Royes, new pastor at Mt. Pisgah Church in Miami Gardens, Fla.: Royes' prayer is for “the lost to be saved, and the saved to be healed.”

Claudette Smith

Mt. Pisgah Church in Miami Gardens, Fla., welcomed their new pastor, Alex Royes, on December 9, 2017. Royes is no stranger to the south Florida area. He grew up in Ft. Lauderdale and, after pastoring on both the east and west coasts, has finally returned to the place he considers home. Royes returns with more than 15 years of ministerial experience. Royes and his wife, Shannon Royes, have been married for 19 years, and have two sons, Ian, 13, and Noah, 11.

Royes quickly sought to assimilate into the church by facilitating a question-and-answer forum for members to candidly express their hopes for the church, and to get to know the Royes family. In the weeks following, Royes participated with church ministry leaders in a special food distribution for community residents. Royes also spearheaded “10 Days of Prayer and Fasting,” with special attention to the Wednesday night prayer services.

Royes demonstrates an energetic disposition and a passion for Christ that is palpable in his preaching, and in the way he cares for the members of Mt. Pisgah. Royes has been encouraging the church to have “walk-on-water faith,” as he seeks to make the mission of the church primary at Mt. Pisgah. Royes recently commented that his prayer is for “the lost to be saved, and the saved to be healed.”
