Making Heaven “extra crowded” isn’t a solo mission. It is fueled by three distinct yet overlapping ministries that pump life into the Great Commission. Women’s Ministries empowers women to grow and lead in the way God has gifted them, while Family Ministries fortifies the home as our primary mission field. Binding these efforts together is Prayer Ministries, the spiritual furnace that changes hearts and gives the Lord access to every situation.

A vibrant revival of women’s Bible study is transforming the spiritual landscape across the Georgia-Cumberland Conference.

“Study groups are popping up all over our territory,” said Amy Cirigliano, Conference women’s ministries director. “I have never been to a women’s ministries event or a women’s group study where there isn’t a community guest in attendance. Women invite women!”

Bringing a female friend, neighbor, or co-worker with you to a women’s ministries event is one of the easiest ways to encourage her to step inside the church building and experience it as a safe environment.

“I invited my neighbor, and she has come to two of the studies,” remarked Jeanne Hartwell of the Calhoun, Georgia, Church. “She loved fellowshipping and learning, and wants to come to our next one.”

Baptisms have come as a result of these small group studies, since people are often more open to the spiritual truths being shared when they feel they belong. “For some ladies, a small group of women may feel much more inviting than a large sanctuary,” said Cirigliano. “It is exciting to see how God is leading.

While “Home Sweet Home” is a universal pursuit, families in an imperfect world often need help to repair broken relationships and manage unmet expectations. Family ministries bolsters each family unit as an essential part of a healthy society.

“It’s only natural to seek guidance in addressing both family and mental health issues when we live in brokenness,” notes Cirigliano, who also directs Georgia-Cumberland’s Family Ministries Department. “It is my mission to help provide the support and resources families need to thrive.”

To pave the road toward healing, Cirigliano partners with mental health professionals to offer Family Home Improvement, a flagship initiative that provides guidance and presentations on diverse family topics.

Day Fernandez, pastor of Valdosta Park Avenue Church in Valdosta, Georgia, shared, “The Prayer Ministries seminars really expanded our church’s perspective on prayer — especially the idea of ‘claiming the land.’ One thing that stuck with our members is that prayer can be active and intentional. With a new neighborhood development right across from our church, several members have already resolved to begin prayer-walking and praying over those homes. We’re also looking forward to applying these principles as we prepare for our upcoming evangelistic meetings.”

The ultimate goal is to seek Jesus daily. Every church, every school, and every home can truly become a house of prayer, ensuring that our connection to the Lord remains unbroken — morning, noon, and night.

As these three ministry pillars support and strengthen one another, they help ensure that the Georgia-Cumberland Conference will remain not just a collection of congregations, but a vibrant and holistic soul-winning movement dedicated to bringing as many people as possible into the eternal “Home Sweet Home.”
