Nearly 300 Broward County residents received free trees on July 19, 2026, as Plantation, Fla., Church partnered with BOLD Justice, Broward County, and NatureScape Broward for a community giveaway that also created opportunities for church members to connect with their neighbors.
The event was inspired by a simple question: What if a tree giveaway could become more than a distribution event?
Rather than simply handing out trees, the congregation came together to create a welcoming experience for every guest. Volunteers from multiple ministries greeted residents, assisted them in selecting and loading their trees, and distributed community gift bags filled with information about the church’s ministries, upcoming events, and resources. Each bag was designed to help guests learn more about the church and Jesus, and provided an easy way to stay connected after leaving the church campus.
“Our mission is to share God’s love through service,” said Noel Rose, Plantation Church pastor. “This event allowed us to meet a practical need while showing our neighbors that Plantation Seventh-day Adventist is a church that genuinely cares about its community. Sometimes the most meaningful ministry begins with a simple act of kindness.”
The project reflected the church’s commitment to collaboration, bringing together volunteers from various ministries, including greeters, parking, hospitality, men’s, children’s, youth, prayer, family life, and MERGE young adults. Volunteers served side by side throughout the event.
“The trees were important,” said Addy Lubin, justice ministries leader. “But our greater hope was to plant seeds in the hearts of people: seeds of trust, connection, community, and hope. We believe relationships often begin with simple acts of service, and this event allowed us to demonstrate God’s love practically.”
By partnering with local organizations and focusing first on serving the community, Plantation Church members sought to introduce their neighbors to a congregation committed to compassionate action. The event reflected the congregation’s mission to connect with its community and share Christ’s love in practical, tangible ways, one tree, one conversation, and one act of kindness at a time.
