Years of growth, small group ministry, and evangelistic outreach culminated June 27, 2026, when the Boiling Springs Hispanic congregation in Spartanburg, S.C., was officially organized as a church.
The congregation began under the leadership of Moisés Sauza, pastor, with the assistance of Pablo Ortega and other leaders who helped establish and strengthen the growing group. Small group ministry became an important foundation for the congregation’s development, with members taking turns participating in weekly worship services for many months.
The congregation continued to grow under José Montenegro, pastor, and later Julio Flores, pastor. Experienced leaders, including Sterling Thompson and Rafael Liz, also helped strengthen the leadership team and support the congregation as it moved toward church status.
Annual evangelistic campaigns contributed to that growth by bringing new members into the congregation and helping advance its mission in the community.
Brad Cauley, Carolina Conference executive secretary, led the organization ceremony and shared a message challenging members to faithfully continue fulfilling their mission. Becky Carpenter, Carolina Conference communication director, also attended and photographed the occasion.
Following the ceremony, members gathered for a fellowship meal prepared by the women of the church, celebrating the milestone together.
Now officially organized as a church, the congregation moves forward, encouraged and strengthened, committed to sharing the Gospel and serving as a light in the Spartanburg community.
