Celebrating Emerging Women Leaders in Adventist Higher Education

For many women at Seventh-day Adventist universities, pursuing a faith-based education is both a mission and a financial challenge. With annual tuition averaging $21,722, students — especially those from single- income or first-generation households — often face steep financial hurdles. Many rely on loans, part-time jobs, and limited aid while preparing for careers in ministry, education, and healthcare — fields that often offer modest salaries.

Yet, these women persevere with resilience, purpose, and a commitment to service. The Southern Union Conference Women’s Ministries Department proudly celebrates their strength through the Emerging Women Leaders Scholarship Award.

The Emerging Women Leaders Scholarship Award is designed to support women attending or planning to attend one of the three educational institutions within the Southern Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists territory: AdventHealth University, Oakwood University, and Southern Adventist University. To learn more, visit www.southernunion.com/wmscholarship.

In 2023, Karen Noelus and Maranatha Byrd were honored for their leadership and academic excellence. In 2024, Kennedy Tatum, Sarah Barnaby, Raquel Nascimento, and Alexandria Reid joined their ranks — each embodying the values of Adventist education.

These scholarships do more than ease tuition costs; they affirm a woman’s calling, empower her leadership, and invest in the future of the Church and communities.

Kennedy Tatum, a 2024 recipient writes, “The scholarship is helping me walk in God’s plan and build a brighter future. Receiving the Emerging Women Leaders Scholarship not only supports my personal and academic growth, but also acknowledges the sacrifices my family has made. Thanks to your generosity, I can now focus on my studies and pursue my goals with renewed purpose.”

With limited funding, only a few can be supported each year. However, you can help with your tax-deductible gift, which fuels more than education — it builds a legacy of faith, leadership, and service. Make checks payable to Southern Union Conference Women’s Ministries, and send to 302 Research Drive, Peachtree Corners, GA 30092.

Give Today. Empower Tomorrow.
