Colburns Celebrate 50 Years of Marriage

BY phil colburn

Philip and Beverly Colburn

Submitted by: Phil Colburn

In the fall of 1965 at Andrews University, Philip Colburn and Beverly Wernick met. Phil was a theology major and Bev was taking pre-nursing. The couple were married on September 1, 1968, at the Fort Wayne, Ind., Adventist Church. Phil earned his master of divinity degree at Andrews University Theological Seminary in Berrien Springs, Mich., and Bev worked in surgery at St. Joseph’s Memorial Hospital. They were sponsored by the Illinois Conference, and their first churches were Aurora and Sheridan. Their 42-plus years in pastoral ministry were spent in 16 churches and three conferences (Illinois, Michigan, and Georgia-Cumberland). They have three sons: Doug, and his wife, Anika, and their sons, McMillen and McKinnon; Dave, and his wife, Marlene, and their three children, Elliott, Enoch, and Elizabeth; and Mike, and his wife, Jeni, and their twin girls, Juliana and Olivia.

Their children put on a recommitment wedding ceremony, followed by a reception on September 2, 2018, at their home church, Meister Memorial Church, Deer Lodge, Tenn. Phil and Bev continue to serve the Lord in ministry.
