More than 100 women from the Decatur, Ga., Church and the surrounding community gathered for a prayer luncheon. The purpose of the event was to provide spiritual renewal and connection following the Sabbath worship service.
The event was held at the church’s Family Life Center, and brought participants ranging in age from 7 months to 88 years old. Attendees were served a meal prepared by LaTonya Carter and the women’s ministries team.
Organizers centered the luncheon on the theme “Reignite the Fire Within,” encouraging women to pause from daily responsibilities, listen for God’s voice, and seek personal renewal. A reflection message based on 2 Timothy 1:6 urged participants to “fan into flame the gift of God,” reinforcing the spiritual focus of the gathering.
Throughout the program, women shared testimonies, expressions of gratitude, and moments of prayer. There were activities provided that were designed to foster interaction among attendees, a designated prayer room, poetry presentations, and a hands-on prayer jar crafting activity.
Participants said the event met a timely need for encouragement and reflection. Many described leaving the luncheon feeling refreshed spiritually, physically, and mentally.
Each attendee received a gift bag that included a notepad and pen, serving as a reminder of the day’s emphasis on reflection and continued spiritual growth.
