Members from across the Gulf States Conference gathered August 7-9, 2026, at Camp Alamisco for the 22nd Annual Prayer Summit, a weekend devoted to prayer, worship, Scripture, and a renewed dependence on the Holy Spirit.
Centered on the theme “UNLEASHED,” the summit drew from Jesus’ promise of the Holy Spirit in John 14:16-17, and invited participants to move beyond simply knowing about God’s power to allowing the Spirit to work freely in their lives.
Throughout the weekend, prayer was woven into every part of the experience. Participants gathered for early morning prayer encounters, worship, testimonies, messages, prayer walks, and interactive prayer stations addressing families, children, youth, healing and restoration, confession and renewal, and communities and the nation. Roger Hernandez, Southern Union ministerial and evangelism director, and Booker Joseph, Alabama Securities Commission senior securities analyst, served as the summit’s main speakers, with Emily Delancey and Cheryl M. Palmour contributing through music and worship.
Mary Nelson, Conference Prayer Summit coordinator, said, “Prayer Summit is more than a weekend on the calendar. It is an invitation to make room for the Holy Spirit to move without restraint in our hearts, our families, and our churches. My prayer is that we leave Camp Alamisco not simply inspired but surrendered, ready for God to unleash His purpose through us.”
The weekend concluded Sunday morning with worship, a final message, and a circle of prayer, sending participants home with a renewed call to seek God, and carry a life of prayer into their churches and communities.
