The Southern Union Executive Committee voted Allan Machado, D.Min., as Executive Secretary for the Southern Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists during its regularly scheduled meeting on September 25, 2025. Machado has accepted the appointment and will begin his new assignment effective immediately, replacing Jim Davidson, M.Div., who retired from the role.
Machado’s ministry began in the Florida Conference as a Bible worker, and his commitment to building the Kingdom continued as pastor, lay pastor coordinator, vice president for Spanish-language Ministries, assistant to the president for strategic planning, and Executive Secretary. He was appointed Florida Conference President in 2018 and was elected to continue serving as President at the 2022 constituency session.
Southern Union President Dr. Ron C. Smith, D. Min., Ph.D., affirms Machado’s appointment saying, “Dr. Machado is an accomplished leader who brings a plethora of valuable skillsets to the Southern Union. We’re honored to have him as part of our administrative team.”
The Southern Union also extends its heartfelt appreciation to Davidson for his years of faithful service as Executive Secretary. Davidson’s leadership and dedication have played a vital role in advancing the mission and supporting the work of the Southern Union.
The Southern Union invites members to pray for Machado as he transitions into his new calling and for Davidson as he enters retirement.
